Genre - Drama - Typical characters

There is usually a  main male/female character who has sympathy drawn towards them throughout the whole film, as they are trying to solve the dilemma.
An example of this is in the film Memento. The main character is male, and throughout the whole film the character is trying to solve the dilemma of the death of his wife.

The antagonist is usually played by a male character, but over the years more villains have started to become female characters.
The film Memento also follows this as the villain turns out to the main characters male friend.

The is usually another character who they are trying solve the problem for or save, this is most commonly a female character as the male would be seen as the one to save them.
Like is the TV show Doctor Who, The Doctor usually finds him self having to save Rose from a situation.
The character that accompanies the protagonist will usually be very trustworthy and loyal

The villain is most commonly a male character as they are made to see as more intimidating. Like in the TV show Doctor who. The Master looks down at the Doctor - who is usually seen as more powerful - but in the Masters presence appears weaker, until he defeats him in the end which the restores the Doctors power.
