Genre research of my film ideas

Horror Genre 

For my first film idea the genre will be a horror and my second ideas genre is a Thriller/Horror so here is so research about horror/thriller films.




I really like this short horror film because of the way of how it starts off in black and white as this helps to build suspense throughout the film. The iconography's that are in this film are portrayed through the sound, editing and cinematography. The sound fits in well with the narrative of the story as the effects help to create a sense that something is about to happen.
Even though this film isnt very close to my two ideas i would really like to use the idea of showing the audience what is the fantasy and what is the reality of the film we make.
In this screen shot you can see an establishing shot. if this shot was in colour it would give the film a different feel. What I mean by this is that it wouldn't feel eerie
or strange.







I have put this short film mother died in my genre research because it is similar to my second idea of a zombie apocalypse. It is portrayed in the same sort of way of how i wanted to do my second idea as there is a really big twist in it.
this film fits in with iconography's of thrillers as usually there are scenes were the character looks like they are bing followed or that they have gone crazy but it turns out that they are not crazy like in mother died and they are being followed sort of like in the open door where the villain enters through the unlocked door.

I like the fast editing in this film as it helps to give the clip a horror/action feel and it makes the audience want to know more about what is about to happen.




Horror Iconography's


















                                                                                Even though these films don't  have a lot of easy to see horror iconography's like: lots of blood, knifes, brutal kills and horrific weapons they both have segments that together could be used in our final film. The audience knows from the iconographies on screen what feel the film will have. For example if there is blood on screen the audience will know that the film will be intense and possible graphic.
