A short film that is similar to my second idea is The Open Door by Dan Allen. This film is about a door being open in the house and the danger that could come from it.
This simple story line is realistic similar to my idea as everyday young girls get kidnapped or murdered and you're always warned about talking to strangers and trusting people just as you are told to keep your front door locked due to risk of people breaking in.
My film idea would also use similar shots like...
As the colours are bleak symbolising mystery and the negative outline of the story as well as foreshadowing the danger that comes. These stills in the film are also very fast paced and the camera tends to switch from different shots fairly quickly, highlighting the thrill of what's to come which I think would be a good idea to put in our film. The shots are taken from different angles which would be good for my idea as it could be a different angle for each characters point of view.
Closeups and a focus on certain objects/people are involved in this short film which would work well in my idea due to a zoom on an object of importance drawing a persons attention and a closeup of a persons face shows the audience their emotions and really focuses on the main point of the film
Like in this picture you can clearly see the woman is petrified, it makes the film all the more thrilling. My idea involves the girls in the woods getting their photo taken as flashes of cameras surround them and this shot could be similar as I'd imagine they would have a similar feeling and look as this woman due to the danger approaching and the confusion they must be feeling.
If we used an object like they do in this shot to foreshadow danger I think it would really make the film as the sounds of chopping of a knife instantly make a person think about what's to come and knives/weapons are featured in most horrors/thrillers meaning the audience could relate to this and feel empathy for the character. This iconography clearly tells us the genre is a thriller/horror also.
